Si chiama ’”Euromid Bridge”, ed è una iniziativa che mira a sviluppare rapporti di collaborazione con Israele, Palestina e Giordania mediante la realizzazione di una piattaforma logistica e di un’area industriale. Il progetto, redatto in collaborazione con il Consorzio Industriale di Verona, l’Unioncamere, l’ICE, l’U.E., le Autorità Portuali di Genova e Livorno, getta le basi per una possibile collaborazione tra le aziende irpine e quelle dell’est asiatico. La prima tappa in Giordania il 22 marzo scorso. Presente il Presidente dell'Asi di Avellino, Pietro Foglia. Positivo l'esito del meeting.
Report on the EuroMid Bridge meeting in Jordan, March 22nd ,2007
This paper reports the main results of the meeting held in Jordan – Dead Sea on March 22nd ,2007.
As stated by all members of EuroMid Bridge the business meeting in Jordan have been planned in order to achieve the following goals with reference to the document presented on this occasion:
1. “ In spite of all the present difficulties in ME, the project is viable, because based on mutual economic advantages and can offer to the multilateral international table a ready made initiative able to contribute here and now to a concrete development promoting employment; if the program is going on positive the first container labelled EMB could move asap .
2. If the result of the coming (March 22nd) meeting in Jordan will be positive , it means that the Jordanian entities are interested to be a part of EMB project and this represents the starting for the technical phase, feasibility study and regulation framework to be completed in few months thanks to the previous accumulated experience and know-how.
3. On the occasion of this meeting in which different countries, sectors, companies, services are participating is hopped for first and direct agreements concerning ready made opportunities because EMB is a business permanent forum.
4. At the same time an advertising and marketing initiative to be activated involving media at international level because the simple announcement of an existing bridge for development and peace in ME can move many things and attract funds and investors.
5. The last meeting scheduled in Berlin during the German presidency of European Union by June aiming to receive the official government approval from the different countries and launching officially EMB as a laboratory and a model for similar initiatives with the aim to build a solid net of different integrated systems. “

The meeting took place according to the program in the Jordan Valley – Dead Sea Hotel starting from the fixed time.
The presentations began with an introductory speech by Mr Oklah and was then followed by an EMB presentation by Mrs Sironi, two presentations by the Jordan Investment Board, regarding the opportunities that would be available for investments in Jordan, and finally the Al Halabat Industrial& Logistic Area.
In a brief the main outcomes of the meeting :
1. First of all has been confirmed the standing of Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian entities at the same and equal level and the EuroMid Bridge project as a whole to be planned and carried out at the same time, in order to guarantee in any phase the substance of a trilateral approach.
2. Right now the full container crossing throughout Scheik Hussein border is not allowed. On this occasion the Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Industry and Trade has stated that his country is fully opened to globalization and competition at international level so that Aqaba isn’t the sole hub for trading and logistic in Jordan. The representative of the Jordan Investment Board has showed opportunities, incentives and facilities investing in his country.
3. A Jordanian company led by Mr Sami Gammoh is carrying out a project for an industrial and logistic platform; after the presentation the MOU signed up to become a new EMB member. This means a new link in the chain penetrating ME region.
4. The Israeli representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave full approval to the project . The very next day we were given at the to level the support and approval to check in depth technical levels of security regarding the Jenin area. The main concern of the European entities is the freedom and easy of moving merchandise through this area with a minimum amount of idle time. The Haifa port has presented their own opportunities and confirmed the active involvement in the project.
5. At Palestinian level the representative of NIIC ( Northern International Industrial Company) of Jenin made the presentation and if the political conditions will change are ready to start working with the program. In a separated meeting with a representative of the PNA Presidency the importance of involving the whole area of Jenin was marked as a priority.
All participants attending the meeting agree on
1. to assemble the different documents and technical presentations made on the occasion of the meeting , asking for the same the other not attending members of EMB , with the purpose to draw up a general presentation to be used and distributed for information and marketing at international level envisaging a web site as well.
2. To go ahead with the feasibility study implementing the presented documents and analysis.
3. to promote and prepare the planned meeting in Berlin by the six months of EU German chairmanship aimed to present an upgraded and operating step of the network , focused mainly on the ME countries, as a new MOU signed by the EMB partners and to be undersigned and supported by the concerned governments at the level which will be possible to get it ; the tentative date to be fixed during the week from June 11 to 15 .
